Can I Sell Meat Online?
There are rules for selling meat. All are dependent on the processor's requisite certifications from their governing regulatory authorities to process meat for Re-Sale or Private Use. Communicate with your processor, they can inform you if they are able to process for Re-Sale and/or Private Use. Either option can be used in your Open Range Market listings for whole and quarter beef. However, for selling individual cuts and combos, we recommend having the USDA (or governing bodies if in another country) stamp of approval.
But getting started selling meat commercially can be confusing, that's why Open Range Market aims to make the process as easy as possible. Selling individual cuts or quarters has never been so easy!
So how does Open Range Market help you sell meat online?
You are not selling meat through Open Range Market, you are selling animals--just as you would to any other buyer through traditional marketing channels, such as grocery stores. The sale that goes through Open Range Market gives you (the rancher), the option to send that animal to a processor of your choice for final delivery for the new owners once the animal is sold. When the lot is ready, deliver to the processor you assigned as a delivery destination. Bring the printed Beef Order Cutting instructions made by the new owner to relay to the processor.
